As an avid deer hunter there are obviously several products that I use every time I go hunting that help me be successful. There are a wide range of hunting products that I use and I am only going to review a handful of the best ones.
One of the most essential hunting accessories is a good pair of binoculars that will allow you to see what's happening further away than what is in plain sight. I use a pair of 10×42 Redfield binoculars and I love them. When I first started hunting my dad gave me a hand down pair that was terrible. I could barely see out of them so I rarely ever used it. This made me believe that it was not essential to use in the field every day. I finally decided to buy a decently priced pair of binoculars because of recommendations from friends, so I purchased the Redfield brand. I could not believe the difference a good pair of binoculars made while hunting. This pair of binoculars allowed me to see everything! I was so impressed with the binoculars because of the ability to see deer in such low lighting. It was almost like they were night vision goggles. I have had the same pair of binoculars for 3 years now and they have held up great. The only complaint I have about the binoculars is that when the temperatures drop below freezing the lenses will fog up from time to time. I have found that if I spray some anti-fog on the lenses it almost prevails this from happening. So overall I would rate the Redfield 10sx42 binoculars a nine out of ten.
Another product that I would definitely recommend to purchase with this pair of binoculars is a binocular harness. The harness that I use with my Redfield's is the Cabela's hybrid binocular harness. When I first bought my harness I used a simple around the neck harness which was good for a little while but after a few hours of hunting it would really strain my neck. So I decided to purchase a good binocular harness from Cabela's. This harness is really easy to adjust for any size person and is also very easy to put on over lots of clothes. Unlike the neck strap this harness puts zero strain on your neck or shoulders and is very comfortable to wear all day long. This product is so great because it keeps your binoculars ready to use at all times.
Back when I was younger I had a very tough time sighting in my bow and I could never figure out why. I just always assumed I was a bad shot. It was not until recently I was recommended to try out a drop away rest. I had always used a whisker biscuit rest and I never realized that this could be the reason I was not shooting as good as I could be. So I decided to give the QAD ultra-rest a try. It was rather expensive at $ 130 but if it was going to help I needed to try it out for myself. It was pretty simple to set up on my Matthews classic bow. It took me a few shots to get my bow sighted in again but I noticed right away that I was shooting a little better than before. After some fine tuning I was able to hit the bullseye every time at forty yards, which I was never able to do before. I was amazed how much more accurate I was shooting with this new drop away rest. I found out that the reason it works so well is because as soon as you let go of the string the rest drops out from under the arrow but the arrow is traveling so fast that it does not need to be supported anyway. This means that the arrow is spending less time in contact with the bow which means slower movements after the shot is made will not affect the flight of the arrow. I would rate this product a ten out of ten because it has increased my confidence in my bow and also increased the range I can shoot at.
When it comes to scouting deer on your property there's nothing better than a high quality trail camera. I have been using trail camera for 8 years now and have watched as technology has increased so much in these small trail cameras. Over the years I've tested out almost ten different types of trail cameras and today the best one I have used is the Moultrie M880. This camera has impressed me because of the clear images it takes and it has a hundred foot infrared night vision flash range. This flash range is so much more than any other camera on the market today which gives you a huge advantage because you are able to see deer that you would miss with any other camera. Another thing I like about the Moultrie M880 is that it takes wide screen pictures so you can catch more deer on the screen than most other cameras. The last thing I like about this camera is the long battery life. I only had to use one set of batteries and my camera rented the entire hunting season. I would give this product a nine out of ten.
The last product that I would recommend to every hunter is a Hunter safety system. This product may the most important thing to bring in the woods with you every time because it just might save your life. Ever since I first started hunting my dad made me wear a safety harness in case I ever fall out of my tree stand. The Hunter safety system is around $ 100 and it is worth every penny because it could save your life. I like this product because it is lightweight and easy to put over any hunting clothes you have on. I would rate this product a ten out of ten because it could potentially save your life in case you accidently fall out of your tree stand.
