First if we talk about the early history, the people of Africa generated the first sign of jewelry. In Kenya, beads made from perforated ostrich egg shells have been dated to more than 40,000 years ago. Around 7,000 years ago first sign of copper jewelry was seen.

The most common metal used in Egypt was gold for making jewelery, they prefer gold the most over other metals. The first sign of jewelery in Ancient Egypt was around 3,000-5,000 years ago. Also the Egyptians use colored glass in place of precious gems. According to Egyptians as each color means different thing, they use to color the glasses to develop jewelry items.

Now when we come to the Europe and Middle East. If we talk about Mesopotamia, by approximately 4,000 years ago, jewelry-making had become a significant craft in cities of Sumer and Akkad. Jewelery was made from thin metal leaf and was set with large number of brightly-colored stones in Mesopotamia. Then talking about the Greeks, they started using gold and gems in jewelery in 1600 BC. By 300 BC, the Greeks were mastered in making colored jewelry and using amethysts, pearl and emeralds. Greens generally do not wear jewelery it was mostly used for public appearances or on some special occasions. Although jewelery work was abundantly diverse in earlier times, when the Romans conquered the most of Europe, jewelery was changed as smaller disputes developed the Roman designs.

Now when we come to the Jewish time Since Biblical times jewelery has been a part of the Jewish culture. There are references in the Bible to the wearing of the jewelery, both as a decoration and as symbol as well. Star of David is the most common symbol in Jewish jewelry.

Ending with the Americans, Jewelery played a major role in the fate of the Americas when the Spanish established an empire to seize South American gold. There were many many American cultures which were expertise in jewelery making common among them was the Aztecs, the Mixtecs, the Mayans and the Mochica. In North America, the native Americans used shells, wood, turquoise, and soapstone, almost unavailable in South and Central America. These all materials were used in making different jewellery ornaments.
