Discover Feng Shui

Feng Shui. What does it mean? What does it do for me? I've been studying this oriental wisdom now for about five years. Yes, there are a lot of technical expertise required to correctly manage ones life force. "Masters" study their entire life learning this ancient Chinese wisdom. And wisdom it is. What I have found most interesting over the years is how much is common sense. And how much of that common sense that is easy to apply to your home, backyard, or office environments.

Feng Shui (the Mandarin pronunciation is foong soyee, the Cantonese pronunciation is Fung Shwey) practice literally means wind and water, two of the most fundamental forms of life's energy and aims to maximize the beneficial movement of chi (the life force present in all things ) through a space.

It is about understanding the secrets of how energy moves in our surroundings and how the style of our buildings and interiors affect us at a minority level. It involves harnessing beneficial chi to enhance the success and good fortune of the individual.

The goal is to create an attractive, safe and nurturing space in which an individual can live and work more comfortably and productively.

Feng Shui uses shapes, colors, textures, sound, light, symbolic imagery and the arrangement of furniture to adjust the energy of a home. Just as acupuncture works by correcting the flow of chi through the human body. It works by directing the flow of chi through the home. This is why it is sometimes called "acupuncture for the home." Positive impacts are encouraged and enhanced, while negative factors are corrected and minimized.

Problems that can be corrected are many. They encompass all walks of life, from birth to death, from love to anger. In your home and outside your home. In your work environment. Your health and prosperity.

For just about every Feng Shui problem there is a remedy.

These include but are not limited to crystals, fabrics, wind chimes, colors, water features, mirrors, and plants. There are also the five elements. The five elements are always used as remedies to enhance positive energies or to neutralize negative energies.

There is also the use of the Bagua. This is a tool used to diagnoseose problems and to help with remedies.

Getting back to common sense. Is it common sense to not sit with your back to a door? After all who wants to be surprised by someone entering the space we are occupying. Is it common sense to not leave the door open to the bathroom. Feng Shui says that if you leave the door open to the bathroom you will be flushing all your good luck away. The whole objective is to allow the "chi", the good life force, to surround you and your loved ones. To allow the chi to flow freely with minimal obstructions. To allow the chi not to bang into sharp objects.

I would love to hear your questions and comments.
