There's something on your neck!
What will they think of next? When the hip-hip movement began, and teens started wearing car hood ornaments around their neck, you probably thought that was strange. Well, that's nothing compared to the latest fashion in teen jewelry. You know those poisonous bugs with the pointy serpents tail you see on television (or in real life if you live in one of those dry desert climates)? Or you may recognize them as a popular zodiac sign. Yes, Scorpions! The latest fashion in jewelry is to where these acrylic encased real bugs as jewelry.
Now, what happened to good old fashion jewelry? You know, back in the days where young girls wore crosses and hearts, and the boys a gold chain? That was before teens would seek out their own "identity" by tattooing barbed wire around their arms and Chinese letters across their lower back. Or, piercing any parts of their bodies, they can fit a piece of metal into.
Well scorpions are now the "new thing". Originally worn by young boys, and probably purchased as a souvenir at the local science center, scorpion jewelry is now a main stream jewelry fashion worn by both men and woman. Sold at retails up to thirty dollars, these once feared exoskeleton members of the insect family are not shown off in a assorted color acrylic pendants, and incorporated into a slew of stylish bracelets, necklaces and anklets. So, the next time you look over and notice a scorpion on a strangers ankle, do not scream. Take a closer look and you may notice it only to be a piece of new scorpion jewelry.
Who really knows how long this latest fashion will remain? Will it be a fad or will this be a fashion such as wearing shark teeth, that stands the test of time? You've got to admit, wearing a piece of deadly scorpion jewelry around your neck would symbolize strength, but would you wear one on your upcoming job interview? I would not risk it in today's economy.
