When it comes to World of Warcraft, the Mage class is considered to be popular among characters that choose to play casting characters. This class is noted for being the best class when it comes to dealing damage – in every single direction possible. If you are the type of character that enjoys dealing a massive amount of damage during combat, and you enjoy high levels of magic that allow you to do damage to just about anything that steps in your path, the Mage class may be an appropriate class for you. Here, you will be introduced to some helpful tips on how to make the most of the Mage class in World of Warcraft.
Casting as a Mage
Casting is the single most important aspect of playing the Mage class in World of Warcraft. These characters are much different from other characters in that you heavily depend upon spell casting for just about everything. Let’s take the basic fight, for example. In order to fight as a Mage, you will be required to “activate” every single ability that your character has when it comes to dealing out damage. You must ensure that you understand simple concepts like the proper positioning, and even how to appropriately manage the mana that your World of Warcraft character has. You must also understand how spell casting works in general.
Mage Talent Specifications
As a Mage, you can choose from the talent specifications of “Arcane”, “Frost”, and “Fire”. The type of character that you will want to achieve, ultimately, from the Mage will rely heavily on the points that you place in the Talent Tree of the Mage. However, there has to be some sort of compromise when it comes to this class in order to play effectively. Below, I have listed some details regarding each aspect of the Talent Tree, so that you can best decide what is best for your Mage in World of Warcraft:
1. Arcane – If you want to create a character that is highly effective at dealing a lot of damage, you will want to focus most of the talent points that you acquire in the Arcane part of your talent tree. While you can be quite a force in PvP, you can do so with this spec. Unfortunately, you must understand that the damage that you deal out will rely, overall, on the amount of mana that you work with. This means that once the damage is dealt, which is relatively quick, you must wait on the mana that is available to you to build back up – this could prove to hinder you in game play.
2. Frost – If you are a player that wants to deal out a lot of damage, then the Frost spec on the Talent Tree is probably not for you. However, the character that focuses on Frost as a talent spec is able to effectively hold their own – especially when it comes to PvP. In basic game play combat, Frost can prove to be effective as well – simply because most creatures that you go against are unable to fight the “freezing” that occurs when you use Frost.
3. Fire – If you are looking to deal out a lot of damage per second, or “DPS” with the Mage, then the fire talent spec is the one that you should focus on. With this, you will develop abilities like “Incinerate”, “Pyroblast”, and even “Ignite”. You can definitely rule the playing ground with this particular talent spec.
