Musso Ice Cream Makers Review

Musso Lussino is an Italian maker of ice cream machines and make stand alone self chilled machines. Most other machines, even the fully automatic, counter top models come with a canister that is made of double walled metal and is filled with a liquid that needs to be frozen before you can use it. This freezing can take up to 8 hrs which means that you need to plan today to make it tomorrow.

Most people eat ice cream as a spur of the moment thing, and the counter-top ones really don’t work here unless you keep the canister permanently in the freezer, occupying half of it. The Musso machines does not need any pre-freezing and just takes around 5 minutes more to make. They have two models and both are reviewed here.

Musso Lussino 4080 model

This is their home model and is made entirely of stainless steel. Even the paddles inside are of stainless steel so there is no doubting their quality. This model can also make ice cream within 30 minutes and just requires that you put in your ingredients and switch it on; no pre freezing. The only problem is that this model costs $700. At this price you can go eat out instead of making it at home. If you like the home made variety better the old fashioned ice and salt mixture works as well as this but at 1/3rd the rate.

Musso Pola commercial model

This is their commercial model and once again is just a more robust version of their home version. It also has a larger capacity but at $1200 it really really expensive. If you have a parlour, you may consider this, but as a home model this is just not going to work.

As mentioned already Musso makes very good ice cream makers, but it is their price that puts people off. Get them only if you really feel that the convenience that they offer is something that you really need.
