3A Edad
This is one of the largest association and is a club for pensioners, there are different activities available such as dancing, sewing classes, keep fit for the mature, hairdressing services, dining out, board games and cards but the day trips and weekends away are most popular with all the association members both Spanish and English. A yearly subscription is all that is required to be part of this group; the association is run by a committee whom are helped by the local Council, at this moment in time we are awaiting the grand opening of the new 3ª building which hopefully will be sometime in November if not earlier, the new building is located in the Village square and has been designed with all the latest modern requirements.
Women’s association.
This is a club originally started for housewives and women living with domestic violence, although the association still offers 24hours support and refuge for women the club is now mostly women enjoying life away from their husbands and children, the club has many members both young and old and offers many different activities for all ages, twice a year the association have an evening out where approximately 200 women eat and drink in a private club with entertainment and disco. The majority of mothers are members of this fun loving association.
Music association.
This association is for the talented musicians or singers amongst us or those simply wishing to learn music either young or old all are very welcome. Algorfa music band play in all the Algorfa fiestas and the Cecilia choir is very popular amongst all. Private classes are also available and are held down stairs in the Councils new Cultural centre which is by the side of the infant school.
Football association.
Majority of the members are fathers and sons, there are many different teams of football with ages ranging from 6 years up to adulthood. Here in Algorfa we have two pitches, changing rooms and a snack bar, members or non members are always very welcome, this association is also funded by the Council and they arrange tournaments to be played in different areas meaning weekends away for all the family to enjoy. Soon to be installed by the Algorfa council is an Astroturf pitch.
Algorfa school of dance.
Dancing is most popular amongst the young and for a small amount of 10 EUR a month, if aged 3 years or above your child can dance twice a week and partake in all the Village fiestas. The children are taught by a local dance teacher and once again the dance school council run.
